I’ve been writing here and there, but I haven’t been posting. I’m not sure why. I guess I am in this weird place of trying to balance writing and time for hobbies with the general responsibilities of life, I guess, and the last couple of weeks have been full of unexpected home repairs and all the stress that comes along with it.
Anyway, this morning, I was able to take some time to sit and write, and create some posts.
I hope you all are having an amazing day. I’ve missed writing, and reading, and have lots of catching up to do since I haven’t been checking in much.
What Would It Take?
What would it take
for us to see each other as human,
beyond the shade of skin,
the name of a god,
the shape of who we love?
What would it take
to greet each other with reverence,
to bow not in fear
but in respect,
to lift laughter higher than the walls
we keep building between us?
What would it take
to shower one another with love
instead of bullets,
to stitch communities together
instead of tearing them apart
for power, for profit, for pride?
What would it take
to realize the table is long enough,
that giving someone else a slice of pie
doesn’t mean your own plate runs dry?
What would it take
to see a soul
before its skin,
its body,
its border,
to recognize the fire of the same stars
burning in all our chests?
What would it take
to chase peace with the same hunger
we chase domination,
to build a world on equity
instead of endless division?
Tell me,
what more must be lost
before we learn to choose love?
because if we do not learn soon,
there will be nothing left to divide.
Only silence where laughter once lived,
ashes where children once played,
a future we could have easily chosen,
gone.
"ashes where children once played".. powerful piece!
Gorgeous piece
